Texas is MASSIVE! I couldn’t believe it.
My husband and I took a road trip starting in Arizona all the way to Georgia, needless to say, we were in the car for a good chunk of time.
For this road trip, we decided to stop in El Paso, San Antonio, Houston and Lake Charles, Louisiana.
I had this all planned out, I knew where we were going to eat and what we were going to do. This makes life so much easier for me. I don’t know about you but if I haven’t already planned where I’m going to eat, then I get so frustrated in the moment. I hate looking up restaurants when I’m hungry because then it just turns into anger.
In El Paso, we ate dinner at Nomi. This is a ramen restaurant that is fairly new to the El Paso area. This is an Asian fusion restaurant with lots of great tapas. To learn more about Nomi, check out this newspaper article: New restaurant on the West Side, Nomi, combines Japanese with other cuisines
Things on their menu include Phuket nachos, ramen, bone marrow, and cheesecake.
We ordered their ramen and bone marrow. I have never had bone marrow before and I was so excited! For two pieces it was only $6 so we had to try it.
In San Antonio we wanted seafood. We have been waiting for really, really good seafood and we were ready. We decided to try Pinch Boil House. Just a coincidence, but this is an Asian fusion restaurant as well.

Austin was a spur of the moment trip, we didn’t have any plans of where to eat or what to do there. At the beginning of this road trip, we really wanted to be healthy and make sure we weren’t just eating a bunch of ‘bad food’. But that went out the window when we eventually decided on Bird Bird Biscuit. We did not regret choosing this place at all.
Their menu is pretty small but wow, it was amazing.

We ordered Queen Beak and Theodore. The place was packed and it was a little wait but it was worth it. They fry the chicken to order so it is definitely fresh.
In Houston, we had to get barbeque! If it was actually up to me I would have gotten something else but my husband really wanted it so I just went with it. There are so many places to choose from. Originally we wanted to go to a place called Killen’s BBQ but it was in Pearland and just too far of a drive for us. So we went to The Brisket House. There are 3 locations around Houston that are serving up great BBQ.
We both ordered two meat plates. Mine was with ribs and brisket and my husband had the chicken jalapeno sausage and brisket. For sides, I had green beans and mac and cheese and my husband got the sweet potatoes and pinto beans. We also HAD to get cornbread on the side. Everything was so perfect. It was all so amazing.
