Olly, Undeniable beauty

Every girl (for the most part) wants perfect skin, strong nails and silky smooth hair, I am definitely part of this population. For a while now I have been playing with the idea of buying some biotin vitamins, I was just unsure as to which brand I should buy. I finally gave in and decided to buy Olly’s Undeniable Beauty grapefruit vitamins for hair, skin and nails. As the directions say I took 2 gummies a day for a month. They taste amazing and I’d really love to just eat them all at one time. You obviously don’t see results right away so I completely forgot about monitoring my results.

It wasn’t until yesterday that I realized that it most definitely gave me acne. My vitamins ran out about a week ago and I didn’t buy a new pack because I just wasn’t sure. My mother commented several times that I was breaking out and I didn’t really think about the gummies causing this… but it has to be, right?!

My acne isn’t severe nor is it gross, so I decided to give it another month. And luckily GNC was having a special where you buy one you get the next half off so I just had to buy two.

I’ll let you guys know what happens. I am really happy that my nails have grown stronger though. Before if my nails grew long they were weak and would unfortunately break. So let’s see what happens!

Let me know if you guys know anything about these or have any insight! I’d love to hear.

Have a great Tuesday!

Yes to Homemade Pickled Jalapenos!

Guys! This is a must!

I have recently discovered that I am obsessed with pickled jalapenos, my family goes through jars like water. So I decided it was time to make some myself. My brother and sister in law were actually raving about how good homemade jalapenos are so it was time to try it out.

Okay so you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • about 8 jalapenos
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • a pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Mason jar

Honestly this is the easiest thing I have probably ever made.

All you do is add all of your ingredients except for the jalapenos into a pot and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling then you can add your jalapenos and remove it from the heat. I left it for about 10 minutes.

And once its cooled you can just add it to your jar. Make sure you first add your jalapenos and then as much of the brine as you can.

I hope you guys try this out! What I love about this is that you can add anything you want in it like the red pepper flakes, oregano, and sweet peppers.

Enjoy and have a great Monday!

Farmhaus fail?

Farhmhaus Burgers has two locations in Augusta, Georgia.  They boast that they use local products (which I am on board with) and they do use organic products as well. Since I’ve moved to the CSRA I’ve always wanted to visit this restaurant. And today was the day.

Going in I was confused, I always thought it was a normal restaurant where you sit down and order, but instead you take a menu and order in line, take your number and then sit down and wait for your food. It has a Chipotle vibe, probably because of how it is decorated but it reminded me of Shake Shack.

The girl at the register was extremely nice and helped my pick out what was best for me. I got their veggie burger with sweet potato tots. fullsizerender-1

It was on an organic wheat bread which was pretty good. I added Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, pickled jalapenos, a garlic ailoi sauce and avocado. I don’t know exactly what was in my burger but it was made with quinoa and beans, that’s for sure. And it was good, it did fall apart though and I had to eat it with a utensil. The sweet potato tots were a complete fail, I was truly disappointed, I don’t know what sauce was on the side but I wasn’t with that either. The regular fries were AWESOME though.

And this is the number 6 or “the Farmstyle”, it looked good but both my brother and father said it was just okay.

They do have shakes and floats with alcohol in them that seems pretty awesome. If I do come back to this place I’m going to have to try one out.

Overall, the place was just okay. And it’s really unfortunate I really wanted to like this place. I will probably come back, MAYBE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Saturday.

Pho Bac, Fo’ Real

Okay guys, don’t hate me but I really don’t care for Asian food.  I know we’ve Americanized virtually every cultures food but even then I don’t care for it. But of course I love food and I’m pretty much down to try most things.

So I decided to go to Pho Bac in Evans, Georgia. I’ve been before and thought the food was alright, I mean seriously, what’s so special about some soup?

img_1591

Anyway this time I got the same thing I got last time haha shrimp noodle soup. But I did add on a Thai beer called Singha and some spring rolls.

Oh yeah and those are crab puffs with the spring rolls. Honestly AMAZING!

This place is pretty decent. The customer service could use some improvement but as far as food it’s good. Not to diss the CSRA but Pho Bac might be the best restaurant around here.

I hope you guys have a great Saturday!

Trumps Tweeting and FDRs Fireside Chats

****Disclaimer: This post has no political affiliation. It is simply a post about what the title says, Trumps tweeting and FDRs fireside chats****

Franklin D. Roosevelt became president of the United States in 1933. He was Commander in Chief through some of America’s toughest times; The Great Depression and World War II. Taking history classes I was always fascinated by FDRs ability to reach out to the American people and utilize new technology to address the public. He did a total of 30 radio addresses, his topics ranged from the New Deal, Fascism to unemployment.

Think about it, at this time there were around 123 million people living in the United States and television won’t be in every Americans home for years to come, the odds that the President of the United States would talk to you were slim. These fireside chats were instrumental in having Americans believe in FDR. He talked to YOU, he used language that the majority of Americans would use and he referred to his audience as “you”. GENIUS! This was an opportunity for citizens to listen directly to the President and not just read what the newspapers told them.

Of course now back to 2017, President Trump is notorious for his 3am twitter rants. I think this is awesome! How else can you talk to a population that is enthralled with social media and can barely read more than 140 words? You utilize the technology that is presented before you.

Now I know most people will say that he’s not tweeting for those reasons, he’s tweeting to argue with his opponents and so forth, which I agree. But FDR started his fireside chats by defending his actions to close the banks for an extended holiday. Many believed that closing the banks would be disastrous and that FDR was over reaching his power. Roosevelt explained to the American public his decisions and thanked them for their patience.

I admit I believed that Trump should have stopped tweeting once he was in office, I mean I don’t even have Twitter and I thought the President should have a lot more to do than tweet. But to reach the American public, not with a press conference, but with a tweet? This is unprecedented.

(I am just fascinated with the possibility that Trumps tweeting will be in history books just like FDRs fireside chats were)

Bodega Ultima

I have found my favorite brunch place in Augusta, Ga. FINALLY! Bodega Ultima is located in Surrey Center, a cute little plaza with restaurants and shops.

So coming in my sister and I were excited to get some breakfast but they only serve breakfast from 8-11, bummer. But their lunch menu was equally appetizing. There were a lot of people inside which got me even more excited.

A coffee was a must
