Market on the River

Happy Monday!

Let me tell you guys, I had a great weekend with my fiance! Saturday morning we went down to the Market on the River and ate a bunch of food.

If you’re ever in Augusta, Georgia and you have nothing to do on a Saturday morning you must go to the Augusta Market on the River…. MUST!

It’s a place filled with vendors from food to soaps and everything in between.

This Saturday we enjoyed arepas, smore’s brownies and tostones, they were great!

Little Colombia is the place to go to!

These are the best arepas that you can get in Augusta! The meat is made perfectly, this is their chicken but their pork (and I do not like pork) is amazing. The kids also enjoyed them.

After our arepas we were like, “We need more food”.

So we made our way to the Puerto Rican booth.

Tostones are always good.

After eating all the savory snacks, we decided to get some sweets!

Jacob chose to get the smore’s brownie and of course he enjoyed that.

Over all we had an amazing Saturday morning, hanging out together and enjoying downtown Augusta.

Wedding Dress Sample Studio

Good morning my beautiful followers!

As many of you know, and many probably do not, I am engaged! But honestly, I’m kind of freaking out, I want the most perfect wedding there is but I’m afraid to make any decisions.

To begin with, my dress! What if I don’t like the one I bought, why am I not crying like all the other girls on TV are, and why are all the dresses so expensive? (spending more than $1,000 on a dress I’m only going to wear once…. that’s ludicrous)

Well, in little Augusta, Georgia I found a sample studio, Tiffinie Bleu Bridal Sample Studio Yes, finally! And its conveniently located right next to my school, I hit the jackpot.

Of course, I follow them on Instagram, (because all I do on social media now is look up wedding stuff), and low and behold they are doing a 10% off flash sale! YES, YES, YES!

Before I get into the sample studio, let me tell you that they do have their regular salon, Tiffinie Bleu Bridal Boutique. It is absolutely perfect. It is by appointment only and you get the whole salon to yourself and the best customer service I’ve ever received. Also, they gave us, me, my mother and maid of honor, champagne and cookies. It was the first time I actually felt engaged and like a bride, I loved it.

I’m only going to share photos of dresses that I am not considering, so my fiance doesn’t know which one I’m getting!

Honestly, trying on dresses was not fun. I didn’t get emotional, I didn’t exclaim “Yes, this is the one… I’m saying yes to the dress!”. Maybe I’m not girly enough, who knows.

But I took a trip to their sample studio to see if they had anything that I wanted. With sample studios it is definitely a hit or miss, they offer discounted dresses straight from their bridal salon. They also have belts, veils and shoes, which is awesome.

If you guys have any tips or advice for my fiance and I please do not hesitate to initiate a conversation! We would love advice on weddings and just how to remain calm and not stressed. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Farmhaus fail?

Farhmhaus Burgers has two locations in Augusta, Georgia.  They boast that they use local products (which I am on board with) and they do use organic products as well. Since I’ve moved to the CSRA I’ve always wanted to visit this restaurant. And today was the day.

img_1600

Going in I was confused, I always thought it was a normal restaurant where you sit down and order, but instead you take a menu and order in line, take your number and then sit down and wait for your food. It has a Chipotle vibe, probably because of how it is decorated but it reminded me of Shake Shack.

The girl at the register was extremely nice and helped my pick out what was best for me. I got their veggie burger with sweet potato tots. fullsizerender-1

It was on an organic wheat bread which was pretty good. I added Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, pickled jalapenos, a garlic ailoi sauce and avocado. I don’t know exactly what was in my burger but it was made with quinoa and beans, that’s for sure. And it was good, it did fall apart though and I had to eat it with a utensil. The sweet potato tots were a complete fail, I was truly disappointed, I don’t know what sauce was on the side but I wasn’t with that either. The regular fries were AWESOME though.

And this is the number 6 or “the Farmstyle”, it looked good but both my brother and father said it was just okay.

img_1599

They do have shakes and floats with alcohol in them that seems pretty awesome. If I do come back to this place I’m going to have to try one out.

Overall, the place was just okay. And it’s really unfortunate I really wanted to like this place. I will probably come back, MAYBE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Saturday.

Pho Bac, Fo’ Real

Okay guys, don’t hate me but I really don’t care for Asian food.  I know we’ve Americanized virtually every cultures food but even then I don’t care for it. But of course I love food and I’m pretty much down to try most things.

So I decided to go to Pho Bac in Evans, Georgia. I’ve been before and thought the food was alright, I mean seriously, what’s so special about some soup?

img_1591

Anyway this time I got the same thing I got last time haha shrimp noodle soup. But I did add on a Thai beer called Singha and some spring rolls.

img_1590

Oh yeah and those are crab puffs with the spring rolls. Honestly AMAZING!

This place is pretty decent. The customer service could use some improvement but as far as food it’s good. Not to diss the CSRA but Pho Bac might be the best restaurant around here.

I hope you guys have a great Saturday!

Bodega Ultima

I have found my favorite brunch place in Augusta, Ga. FINALLY! Bodega Ultima is located in Surrey Center, a cute little plaza with restaurants and shops.

So coming in my sister and I were excited to get some breakfast but they only serve breakfast from 8-11, bummer. But their lunch menu was equally appetizing. There were a lot of people inside which got me even more excited.

A coffee was a must

Guys, I ordered a smoked salmon BLT completely forgetting that BLT’s have bacon in them HAHA

img_1486

img_1487

Absolutely amazing, I never had smoked salmon and I’m extremely happy that it was this great. (I did remove the bacon)

img_1485

This is the trashcan wrap with salmon, another absolutely amazing item.

Jo even loved it!

If you’re in the Augusta area this place is a must!

DIY CorkBoard

What is better than truly making your living area your own by doing fun DIY’s?

I’m always on Pinterest so I come across all kinds of cool DIY’s and some actually seem really hard. I decided doing this simple one that would go great in my room because it seemed pretty quick. (Unfortunately I get really frustrated when things take too long so this project was perfect.)

All you need:

  • A corkboard
  • pins
  • burlap
  • staple gun
  • And I used some blue ribbon to make a pocket(but that is optional)

**** When you shop at Michael’s or Jo-Ann’s google for example “Michael’s coupons” or “Jo-Ann’s coupons” there are usually coupons online for like 40% or even 50% off. Definitely take advantage of that*****

image-1

You simply have to cover your board with the burlap. You have to make it really tight the first time because it is easy for the material to bunch up which you’ll then have to redo it.

image-1-1

You don’t have to add the pins, but I did to make a border and I used gold because it matches my room. Use whatever colors you want!

image-1-2

Then I added just a little something extra, I decided this board needed a pocket for my important papers.

image-1-3

When it came to actually putting it up in my room I realized I didn’t have much to put on it. I put my school papers in the pocket and some of my 5k run ribbons up. But I do love this board, especially because I made it!

And the final product:

Let me know what you guys think! And if you have any cool DIY’s I’d love to hear all about them!

Have a great Wednesday ❤

Safe Harbor Georgia Amendment 2

On November 8th, Georgians will be voting on Amendment 2, below are some quick facts for you to understand what the bill means and what opposition it has.

Amendment 2:

Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Fund

“Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow additional penalties for criminal cases in which a person is adjudged guilty of keeping a place of prostitution, pimping, pandering, pandering by compulsion, solicitation of sodomy, masturbation for hire, trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, or sexual exploitation of children and to allow assessments on adult entertainment establishments to fund the Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Fund to pay for care and rehabilitative and social services for individuals in this state who have been or may be sexually exploited?”

A yes vote will provide funding for restorative services such as medical treatment, housing and counseling. The funding will come from new fines that will be placed on those convicted of crimes such as sex trafficking. There will also be fines on the adult entertainment industry especially places that serve alcohol and promotes nudity. The charges on individuals with be $2500 on top of what the court decides to fine them with. And for businesses it will be either 1% of their gross annual income from the year before or $5000 whichever is greater.

Georgia state senator Renee Unterman made her case saying that strip clubs promote sex and the selling of it so there is a direct link between the clubs and sex trafficking which makes it okay to tax these businesses.

If the amendment is passed non profits and faith based organizations will be able to apply for these funds so they can provide these services.

It will rack up about 2 million dollars to provide services for these children. The services includes talking to a psychiatrist, psychologists, counselors and social workers.

Opposition:

Those opposed to this bill object to charging law-abiding strip clubs. Why should strip clubs be the target and not other venues that sex traffickers are known to use like truck stops, hotels and various websites.

Some say that it will be expanding the welfare state because it includes children who voluntarily involve themselves in sexual activities, these children will be able to receive medical attention and housing. So in a sense “they will be awarded for bad behavior”.

It will empower the larger businesses, shut down the smaller businesses but will not prevent children from being exploited.
