So, if you didn’t know, the Central Savannah River Area, CSRA, offers amazing local restaurants. I have a blog post about a beautiful little café called Manuel’s Bread Café that place is absolutely amazing.
Whenever I go out to eat I always check Yelp, after all I am a Yelp Elite (woo, woo!). It’s a handy app/website where you can find exactly what you want. The Bee’s Knees place has 4 out of 5 stars and 395 reviews, for Augusta that is a lot of reviews. I was hesitant because it’s a Tapas bar and my family likes to eat a lot so I wasn’t sure if a small plates place was appropriate but we gave it a shot anyway.
About the Bee’s Knees
The Bee’s Knee’s is located in Downtown Augusta, Georgia and they are making amazing food. It is a tapas style restaurant, so they mostly offer small plates. Of course, they do have larger plates as well, these just take a little longer to make. But no matter what you get, they encourage sharing.
They use local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients whenever they can. They use tofu, pork and beef that is local to Georgia and organic.
“We are passionate about what we do & we mean it. From recycling (all glass, metal, cardboard, & paper) to supporting our local farmers & community, we strive everyday to do our best.“
Their Menu
Some unique items they have on their menu include:
Blue crab & artichoke dip
Kimchi cheesy rice balls
Sweet potato hummus
Our Experience
THIS PLACE IS GREAT!
I’m not exaggerating at all. It’s in Downtown Augusta which I believe is a beautiful area, it needs some work but nonetheless is gorgeous.
Anyway, our waitress was incredible. I used to be a waitress so I kind of have high expectations from my waitresses but I always give them the benefit of the doubt, I mean they are people too. This is the waitress that I want for every restaurant I go to. She was upbeat, personable and friendly. She was informative about the specials and even had cute notes about everything that was going on. I wish I got her name but I know that she knows that she’s an incredible waitress.
The Bee’s Knees tries to only use local meats and seafood and they also use organic products. I love places like these! Even if I didn’t like the food I knew that I would appreciate this place for trying.
Anyway, let me tell you about the food!
Since it’s a tapas place we ordered a bunch of the plates which is definitely the way to go.
To drink I ordered a white wine sangria, literally the best sangria I’ve ever had. It was delicious, it was made with coconut rum and boy, are these things dangerous. You can taste the alcohol but it’s so sweet and smooth that if you’re not paying attention you will be drunk in no time.
We ordered the smoked Gouda Nachos with seafood and it was absolutely incredible! This is a must if you’re visiting. It was topped with crab and shrimp. It was so good that it was gone in a second.
We also ordered 2 plates of hand cut fries which were great. With the fries you can chose 2 sauces out of about maybe 10 or 12. We tried their creamy Parmesan and spicy aioli with one order and the other order we got dill feta and jalapeno. All the sauces were so good and had such a depth of flavor.

Someone at our table ordered their spinach and black bean quesadilla. This one was just average but I think it was because I’m not the biggest fan of spinach.
My brother got chicken and waffles, I only tried the waffles but LET ME TELL YOU. So soft and sweet, seriously I need this recipe and a waffle maker asap.

To finish we ordered raspberry crème brulee. This dessert was the perfect end to this meal.

The Bee’s Knees is a MUST go place if you’re ever in the CSRA. I don’t really have any negative criticism for this place, I really enjoyed it and I loved our fun waitress.
Since this first visit, I have been back several times. There gouda nachos are a must for me. It’s a fun place to get a good beer and enjoy good food with friends and family.

Thanks for reading. It’s a great restaurant.
Great! I stay in an entirely different part of the world so I never get a chance to visit this place 😀
Aw, what a bummer! I’m sure you can find a place like it though!
Blue crab & artichoke dip sounds like an interesting mix. That is because Blue Crab is the state animal for MD, my hom estate, and we usually eat it with lemon and butter.
Oh wow, that sounds so good!
Sounds like a very nice restaurant and those food look amazing . Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Thanks so much for reading. It’s an awesome restaurant.
